Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with David. In a competitive offer situation that was very important for us, we were going to bid a certain range, but following David's advice, we submitted a significantly lower offer because we were assured by him our offer would likely be accepted or that at the very least we would get a chance to submit a counter offer. It turned out there were significantly higher offers and this resulted in us not even getting a chance for a counter offer. This was disappointing to us, but things like this happen in competitive situations. We did not blame David, but did lose confidence in continuing to work with him. Accordingly, we chose to work with a different agent. Months later, we found and purchased a different property with the other agent. This property had been on the MLS on and off for years and we had considered purchasing it years before ever meeting David. To our shock, David had stalked us and emailed us with a negative tone, telling us he had found out we had purchased another property. We responded politely and in a positive, professional manner explaining our position. What was unacceptable was that in his response to that email, he made baseless and offensive suggestions about how we had probably found the property we purchased on his website, when in this day and age most buyers find everything on Zillow or any of the other myriad sites. His tone was defensive, accusatory and rude. He said he will make his future clients sign exclusive buyer's agent agreements so that they won't be able to leave him. Wow! Every property we viewed or bid on with him we had found ourselves on Zillow before he ever suggested them to us. The one property we bid on with him, we weren't able to see together with him because he was out of town traveling. Furthermore, it appeared he didn't even know my or my partner's name. In all our correspondence, he never even addressed me by my name. He would just address me as "Hi,". He had saved my partner's name by somebody else's name in his email database. After pointing out how off-base and rude he was, he didn't even bother to apologize.

David helped us buy our Sonoma home last year, and advised us (former) city slickers through a couple of the finer points of buying a country home, helping secure a pool inspection (which revealed some issues which the seller paid for) and some necessary well-head upgrades. The home came with a beautiful garden as well as some not-yet-landscaped land, which is now beautifully landscaped, thanks to that connection.
